Home'sCool

I haven't been posting much lately because one month ago today we started school and we've been BUSY! Here are a few things we've been up to.

Besides reading, writing, math, and history we also are sure to have art several times a week, Latin, Etiquette, sewing, and other life skills, Old Testament study, and some lapbooking. Our kids also have the coolest science teacher around - their dad. That means they get experiments and projects weekly. This past month after learning about cells, they got to help make slides of Cameron's blood and look at the cells in the microscope. They wanted to see their own cells too, until they saw Daddy draw his own blood. Then they were content to just look at his.

Wow, how do you know enough Latin to be able to teach it?!! That's really impressive. I really like the idea of homeschooling, but I don't know if I'd be able to cut it. I'm excited to hear about your experience with it!

Natalie - I don't actually know a lot of the stuff I'm teaching. There are some great books out there, and all I have to do is stay one lesson ahead of the kids. I love all the stuff I'm learning too! For Latin we're using Song School Latin, which comes with a CD full of songs that teach the vocab - that way I know we're pronouncing things right. Honestly - anyone who WANTS to could homeschool - the desire is much more important than how much you know - it's fun to learn along with the kids.
